- 3 cinnamon sticks
- 1 tablespoon whole cloves
- 1 cup brown sugar

- Wash and roughly chop the apples, including the peels and cores.
- Add the sliced orange to the chopped apples. Tie the cinnamon sticks and whole cloves in a cheesecloth or place them in a spice bag.
- Place the chopped apples, orange slices, and the bundled spices in a large pot. Add enough water to cover the ingredients. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for 2-3 hours. Stir occasionally.
- Mash the softened apples with a potato masher or the back of a spoon to release more flavor. Let the cider continue to simmer for another 1-2 hours. Once the apples are thoroughly cooked, strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve or cheesecloth into another pot or large bowl. Press the solids to extract as much liquid as possible.
- Return the strained liquid to the heat and stir in brown sugar. Adjust the sweetness according to your taste preference. Allow it to simmer for an additional 15-20 minutes to let the flavors meld.
